I chose being raped (although I don't actually know how that would affect me) because I'd rather have the support of people around me when I process the trauma than being distrusted and hated by people i care about.

This is very much my thought process as well. One situation describes your social support and stability in addition to traumatizing the accused. The other is simply traumatic.

There are so many factors affecting one's experience of a rape. Knowing/ not knowing the person. Amount of physical violence involved. STI anxiety. Women have added pregnancy anxiety. Passed out at a party with attractive attacker vs seedy old truckstop crim etc

Being raped is at least time-limited. In many countries your life would be ruined forever if you were convicted of rape or even forcible touching, thanks to sex-offender registration laws.
