You press the button, all sexism and stereotypical gender role expectations are magically eliminated. Nobody's treated better or worse, even subconsciously, due to their gender.
Does the gender ratio at open chess tournaments (given enough time to adjust) reach 50/50?

Absolutely. From what I've found there's no significant difference between the sexes in ability to play chess and so if men and women have exactly the same upbringing and expectations, almost any game would be brought to a near 50-50

Women are discouraged from chess? That thought has never once crossed my mind

I remember reading that most of the *ridiculously* intelligent people are basically all men

A lot of zero sum games with arbitrary rules serve as competitions to formalize a hierarchy of value. The purpose of this stratification is I think rooted biologically as a way for females to judge and pick. They’re kinda pointless headbutting in the end.

This is so funny, I always answer no to the askhole version of this question, but having it be specific to chess made me change my answer. But I would probably still answer no to something else.
