Do you enjoy the amount of homophobic comments that your little ‘thought experiments’ create? Is this why you do it? To allow bigots a place to be open about their bigotry? Serious question.

When are you going to start asking people’s opinions on the existence of racial minorities? I mean that’s obviously the next step, right?

I would except race is a much less interesting question for me; not very many people actually hold the opinion that racial groups are inherently bad (usually their argument is culture or something)

I mean being left-handed used to be considered ‘bad’. So much so that lefty’s experienced actual social stigma for it and people would force handedness on them. Where’s that poll? What about gingers? There are still wackos out there that hate gingers. Where’s that poll?

If race is a less interesting question for you what about religion? Is it strange that your ‘lack of interest’ in such topics is an excuse for you not to post them? Seriously. Post a button question about race or religion and see how long it lasts? You know people would freak.

I honestly have very little against your hypothesis buttons but when you put groups into it that are still oppressed (say gay or trans people) it opens the door for abuse by those who dislike/disbelieve in those groups. Should your ‘interest’ trump our safety and respect?Serious?

I am seriously not a crazy ‘gender person’. I try to look at things from all sides. I’m just trying to give you a glimpse at how something that may be fun/interesting to you can literally harm our community. Just sayin

The 'harm' argument is also a pretty dangerous one. It shuts down all genuine inquiry around marginalized communities entirely under the fear that "maybe it'll provide a smidgen of validation to someone who doesn't like us."

It shuts down study, curiosity, discussion. It shuts down *any* sort of discourse that people might interpret as threatening but actually isn't. It stops learning and growth and treats everything like a fragile war.

I think for many trans people, the idea that there was another path to take is frightening. They need to believe that their transition was an inevitability in order to feel confident in their decision.

I don't feel that way. I accept that I chose this life, for better or worse.
