I wasn’t. Several autistic people shared this and I felt compelled to say something. If that’s your response - You obviously understand how wrong this is- why not delete it?

It's not wrong. I absolutely do not believe this is wrong. I am autistic, asking other people their opinions, and the results of which are a strong pro-autistic argument. I will use this poll in the future when I'm arguing against people who want to cure autism.

Hm. if that was your goal - your execution resulted in insulting a lot of other autistic people. I get that youre interested in others opinions (so am I - got a whole dang degree in anth for it) but this is just not the way to go about this type of poll

I understand they feel insulted, but my poll was straightforward and they decided to interpret in a way that led to that sensation of insult. This is unfortunate, but I'm not going to change basic, straightforward questions because some people feel hurt by them.

Yeah, this sort of changes my desire to be something like, "How do we educate the masses so that they don't feel offense over stuff like this?" Having such terrible responses seems like really net bad for the whole of society.

I think I'm hoping that's what my consistent, straightforward question approach can be. If they realize that you can actually think about these questions without it being a war, then maybe that's a first step in the direction of education. I want to be an example.

I get what you’re trying to do - I often do similar things on my instagram - but this was a really distasteful way to go about it - talking about wanting autistic people to not exist at all was too far - a lot of us feel a collective identity

I also had no idea you were autistic yourself - and it is like even scarier when non-autistic ppl say this so that my guess for the backlash. I checked through your page a bit and your website some before commenting so I had context - but didn’t know and bet they didn’t either💖
