People are mad at this, but I don't understand. The results feel like a great argument for (at least some level of) autism. How do you even know they have pain though? If you do think they have pain, how do you know it’s from being autistic and not from something else? How do you know the pain isn’t from the way they’re treated by others? Can they even determine where their own pain comes from?

When did she say that she knows the pain isn't from the way they're treated by others? It seems pretty reasonable that someone who is severely autistic would have pain whose origin is the social alienation that inevitably comes with being so different from others.
