People are mad at this, but I don't understand. The results feel like a great argument for (at least some level of) autism. If people *with* autism are much more likely to prefer it continue than people without, then this strikes me as a great pro-autism argument.

Are you autistic? || If you press the button, no person with autism is ever born again (or become autistic through other means), though existing people are left unchanged. Do you press the button?

Yeah, this is sort of what makes the question interesting to me? Like, I'm on the spectrum and *strongly* value the kind of brain I have and other brains like me. Would I sacrifice that in order to spare people the pain of very severe autism? I don't know it's real tough.

I think people are upset because so many of the people voting don't have autism but would genocide autistic people. One dude in the replies was talking about how high functioning autists could be "allowed to live"

But the poll is not about genocide. It's a magic button that just eliminates autism pre-birth. Kinda like, if you were gonna get a sperm+egg combo that results in autism, it just... ends up being a different combo instead.

Because we live in a time that people still believe in thoughtcrimes and that you shouldn’t be allowed to think certain things. Which is foolish at best. “It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.” —Aristotle

Also, people slap a label on something based on their interpretation and not on facts. You weren’t saying anything about killing or people dying, but I still see comments about genocide and what not. Do they like to be triggered?

I've been trying to discuss the merits of tabooing such discussions with , and I'm as confused as ever. He asserts that "autism is not a disease", and I think this is important information which the "Yes" voters might be missing. How else to inform them?
