And this intense knee-jerk reaction I'm seeing about "EUGENICS=BAD" just... like... ok yes i understand that it has been used for very bad things but that does not inherently make it bad. You seem to be ok with people aborting down syndrome fetuses, so at least be consistent.

I think there's a deep confusion about "eugenics". The horror show is really state use of force to coerce people into eugenics. When individuals & families choose on their own, I really don't see nearly the same problem. But family choice is often lumped in with state coercion.

Does eugenics imply state control? I always interpreted the term as sort of neutral to that.

I think the hugely negative connotations of eugenics mostly come from state control. In particular, Eugenics are associated with Nazi Germany. The horrors of that aren't really about parental choice, so much as they're about state abuse of power.
