And this intense knee-jerk reaction I'm seeing about "EUGENICS=BAD" just... like... ok yes i understand that it has been used for very bad things but that does not inherently make it bad. You seem to be ok with people aborting down syndrome fetuses, so at least be consistent.

“Curing” an illness by killing all who are afflicted by it seems self-evidently wrong. Anyone who has met a person with Down syndrome can see they are no less human, and seem to be far wiser, loving, and good than the average non-down afflicted person.

A lot of people (myself included) do not consider abortions to be equivalent to killing people.

But even a the most hardline pragmatist could make a compelling argument to allow Down syndrome afflicted individuals to live based on what they contribute to the world in love, joy, and sacrifice.

This argument is inherently amoral. People without Downs Syndrome are not required to contribute to the world in love, joy and sacrifice. People are allowed to be shitty within lawful confines (Which is subjective anyway. Who gets to decide?) without life or death consequences

Even so, what kind of hell would we live in if a person were required to possess subjective abilities, competencies, and genetic excellence for their rights to be recognized?
