ive been calling it almost exclusively 'the plague' which is not super original but i still love it

That's definitely a whole vibe, I've been calling it "the pestilence" in work correspondence

Plague is the kleenex of pandemic.
Pneumonic plague is the perfect name but also already a real thing, when Yersinia Pestis gets in your lungs.
