So, I think it's coherent to talk about gender in the same way. It's not purely reducible to gametes, anatomies, behaviors, articles of clothing, or even all those things together. But (some) people have a gender identity as surely as they have a personal identity.

Ok, first of all did you just come out of a philosophy lesson? If words meant different things to different people we wouldn’t be able to communicate at all. Most words have collective definitions.

You listed several things that gender is not, but I can’t possibly deduce what it IS. It’s all very mystical. If it is like a personal identity, why use words that are clearly used to talk about sex? Why is personal identity gendered at all? I don’t see how this isn’t sexist.

What IS redness? You can point to wavelengths, neurological correlates, etc. But none of those is redness itself, although they are in some way related. I think it is in some sense mystical, although a lot people on my 'side' would disagree.

Like, it's certainly possible not to have a gendered personal identity. Lot's of non-binary people, for example, feel that way. I think you should be more open to the possibility that other people have a different experience than you.

I mean, if you thought something was fundamentally misogynistic/homophobic and no one could explain it to you in a way that wasn’t would you still be open minded?

You've been fairly open-minded. I mean I think what you're saying is, at root, misogynistic and homophobic even though you think that it is in fact the opposite case, that my views are unreflectively misogynistic and homophobic, and I'm trying to keep an open mind.
