Lately people have been telling me gender identity is a thing you feel - that you can 'feel like a woman', for example. But I legit don't understand what that means. Does feeling like a woman mean you want to wear women's clothes? Or have a vagina? Or get sexually pursued?

A woman is any female that identifies with their "gender assigned at birth" & any male that desires to be a woman. Again, this is an explanation of how I understand their beliefs.

But that would mean that being a man or woman is a matter of simple choice. It clearly is not.

A cultural, social and psicological identity that while informed by biology, is not defined by it.

Great question! Lacan's answer: "woman does not exist". He theorized that there are no positive attributes which can be ascribed to women as a class, in the form of "all women are/have/do X".
