Lately people have been telling me gender identity is a thing you feel - that you can 'feel like a woman', for example. But I legit don't understand what that means. Does feeling like a woman mean you want to wear women's clothes? Or have a vagina? Or get sexually pursued?

Like what is it about womanhood that is the thing that people 'feel like', in such a concrete way that they know that's what it's like to feel like a woman? I'm a woman and I have no idea what it feels like (besides what I listed), so I'm extremely confused about this.

Read an essay once from a woman who took lots of testosterone. Said it "flattened out" her emotions. As a guy, this makes sense. My day-to-day is directed, focused efficiency to get things done; emotion would just get in the way. Suspect this is what "feeling like a man" is.

No person knows what it feels like to be either gender. We just have inclinations to behave a certain way or prefer certain things. If most of those preferences happen to coincide with whatever gender our society says they belong to then people conclude they feel like that gender
