Dude the online trans crowd is the most uncharitable, cruel group I've ever encountered. Had to block a hundred people calling me a piece of shit this morning.

You were transphobic. You're not a piece of shit but maybe you should reflect on what you said because it was totally unnecessary. Very roundabout way to say "I'll use your pronouns" and then still be transphobic when no one asked how you saw them.

Transphobic feels like a war, shutdown word at this point, like people use that word as some final accusatory label and then I'm expected to be 'oh shit you're right let me say the appropriate measures so you lift that terrible stamp". I'm not actually afraid of trans people.

Does homophobia mean "afraid of gay people" no, it includes prejudice as well. Same thing here. No one's calling you transphobic to shut you down, they're really just trying to tell you how it is. There was no reason for your tweet, very ignorant mindset, all due respect

The word "transphobe" - like many other war words - are meant as a fast hard judgment label that shuts down further discussion. It's not a good word! I use preferred pronouns, tell other people to use preferred pronouns, and loudly support trans rights.

Transphobe is binary; no matter how positively I talk about or how much I defend trans people, if I deviate in one area then I'm slapped with the 'transphobe' label and bundled in with all the people who *actually* hate trans people, like you're either with us or against us.

There is absolutely no room given for slight deviation, or any kind of middle ground or nuance or compassionate discussion. It's *war*, and "transphobe" immediately makes me the enemy.
