I don’t know, I think you’re splitting hairs. “I don’t see you as your preferred gender” will obviously be interpreted as the statement “You *arent* your preferred gender.” From there it could definitely feel like you’re making a claim about the realness of nb people.

Maybe we're miscommunicating? You seem to be using a different definition of "exist" than I am. Also I'm not telling them what gender they are, I'm telling them the gender they are in my perception of them.
Nah, I agree that “exist” is sort of an exaggerated word to use here. But telling them “what gender they are in [your] perception of them,” to most people, will feel like you’re telling them -what gender they are.- 1/
