My theory is its a cause of WW1 and its effect on women because they got traditional men jobs and thous demanded more practical clothing from fashion designers.

There was tremendous change in more that fashion. In this same period cars replaced horses in many cases, home electricity and indoor plumbing became common, and home appliances like refrigerators and gas ranges replaced ice boxes and coal stoves.

I'd like to see a comparison of these eras where the women are of the same class. I imagine there would still be a disparity, but even today there is a huge difference between high fashion and what is common.
