I have a few minor yet strong mental quirks, and I'm curious if there's a term for these patterns or if anyone else has something similar. THREAD:

I might have misunderstood. The common thread I pulled from all your examples was "I can't do things without having a goal in mind" - which I relate to. The metaphor I use to explain it to people is "kick the can" from childhood. Pure, aimless fun. That's impossible for me now.

I couldn't do that as a child either. I mean, I could spend hours at a time playing with lego, but I had to have some sort of goal like "build a new super-cool starship with these features". If I didn't have anything I specifically wanted to do, even lego was boring.
