A demon offers everyone on earth immediate jet packs. They work great. Fast as planes. Clean. Personal. Free. In return demands a sacrifice of a million humans a year. You get to choose them but must deliver. Do you take the jet packs?

I get that this is a hypothetical thought experiment but there actually are much milder restrictions on cars (intersection redesigns, red light cameras, protected bike lanes/pedestrianized zones in cities) that massively reduce car deaths without the inconvenience of carpet bans.
-
(And America doesn't do most of them, which is why European car death rates are so much lower)
