A lot of what draws me to shopping is the experience of browsing things and making a selection, and using the selected objects as sort of peacock display. Jewelry fits this perfectly with far fewer downsides than regular clothes shopping.

My gf does the same. Ordering rings off of wish. So many rings. “It was 35 cents and free shipping” she’s getting stuff she doesn’t remember ordering.

When money isn't tight, I do comfort shopping, but it's usually hardware store stuff these days :-P

Oh man, a trip to Altex for some cable ties and cable hooks is peak comfort shopping. I even get to make the apartment neater afterwards!

My wife and I do the same thing. I had this job that I was super depressed about but it paid better than my old job, so I just bought a bunch of random things. I learned that it is like buying for a 3 year old, cheaper stuff is better because it fills the need either way.

Good to know that you’re a real woman not “an empowered independent something something”.

I do this too! Amazon and Wish are both great for it.
