People generally view landlords as making easy money without providing value. I like easy money, so I started planning on buying a house and I read a bunch of landlord forums. And after seeing what landlords were saying... then I wasn't so sure. It almost seemed not worth it.

Can you explain the concept of landlord? How does it work? Where I live (Sweden), most houses are owned by companies (some owned by the municipality) that are responsible for collecting rent and servicing the buildings. Is that the same as a landlord or must it be an individual?

Yeah, landlords here are usually people who own the property and do maintenance and select tenants and do evictions. That sounds pretty similar to your thing?

For some reason, they doesn't seem to be unpopular at all here. Most discussion is that we want more rental properties, rather than the opposite. The fact that we have a strong tenants union (Hyresgästsföreningen) might be a part of the reason.
