I also am surprised that, despite me consciously knowing all this and knowing what it's like to feel prostrated at, I *still* have an overwhelming urge to prostrate in front of people much more powerful than me. It's confusing and surreal and annoying.

Ha, yes. It takes conscious effort to resist it, and the feelings are particularly hot and feisty in the body. Wild to contemplate afterwards, like we each have this “sleeper code” that activates in these circumstances
