ok I think the thing about genderpeople that *actually* bothers me is that I feel not allowed to use my own gender framework around them. I honestly don't give a shit how they present, how deviant from gender norms they are, whether they wear makeup or a boy cut. (1/6)

what could we do to encourage being viewed as nonbinary, personally? not to start anything! looking for advice, lol
-
I don't know 'how' to view you as nonbinary. I think I've only once actually intuitively processed someone as "neither gender" before, and they were a trans woman on estrogen.

Cool, you do you. But how will you vote? What rights will you advocate for?
-
Similar to religion. I want religions to have the right to exist, believe what they believe, and I support steps to protect them from discrimination, hate crimes, or social rejection.

I think you may be overthinking it. My gender fluid and gender neutral friends have no problem with me being Male as I have no problem with then being they or them. I think the problem you feel is what is the proper way we who still identify by our birth standard handle it.

thing is, when you say that you're reinforcing the reality of their assigned gender and thus weakening the at-least-equally-valid reality of their experienced gender they're entitled to defend against that, and it's much simpler to keep quiet, out of courtesy
-
(the implicit context here is that all of society is a constant roil of competing realities and if we ever expect to get anything done we need to choose our battles wisely, and something so fundamentally pointless as gender ain't it)

Or you could just say “nice to meet you”. Too simple?
