I know I'm pretty skeptical of systemic racism stuff but so far this seems like great evidence for its existence.

We also find a price penalty for Black hosts (-10.1%) and a price premium for hosts who smile more (+3.6%). Important: this is after controlling for many potential confounds (e.g., review scores, apartment size, looks, and location).

Possibly? This doesn't feel intuitively persuasive to me; it doesn't seem immediately obvious to me how black people would be less money-hungry (money-savvy? financially competitive?) than white people.

So I'm already convinced that there's definitely obvious racism in some cities, in some areas. The Airbnb example seems stronger because it seems less culturally limited (a wider group of 'travelers').

I don't know that I would call this systemic racism. Really just seems like latent human xenophobia. In my understanding an example of systemic racism would be say a police (or court house or whatever) department that had a policy of treating one race worse than another.

This might be semantics but does that indicate a systemic problem or a problem endemic to the people likely to rent a private space as opposed to a traditional hotel? Which also brings up the question of the age of Airbnb customers.
