I'm getting LASIK today, but am nervous because I get vasovagal syncope when my eyes are touched and it is NOT fun. Can people say encouraging things (or has has anybody else with eye-induced vasovagal syncope gone through LASIK and can tell me how it was?)

My experience was fantastic with LASIK. Both eyes had been done in what might have been 10 minutes. Got a ride home, woke up the next morning seeing 20/20. I've never experienced VS but if they know and are still going forward with it, you should be fine.

I really don't trust medical professionals to handle VS. I've always warned people but they don't know how to reduce the psychological stress for me and sometimes are surprised and confused when I start freaking out.

That's fair. If they can't set you at ease, then they don't deserve your money for the procedure. Have they explained how the procedure will go? Or alternatively have you done your own research? Actually, given how you use your account I feel like that's a dumb question.

I've been looking into PRK (a bladeless Lasik alternative) and two friends of mine who've done it said that they were given a Xanax for anxiety during the procedure. You may ask for one during your Lasik, or if physical contact is your trigger, look at PRK.
