It is possible. None of my grandparents went to college. My parents were the only ones among their 7 siblings who did. All their children did. All my children have. My grandfather started with absolutely nothing and died a millionaire. I've made more money in my lifetime than him

The exact same dichotomy of views, with either being pernicious if untrue, can be found in many contexts. I'd love to see a deeper exploration of the phenomenon.
