I have a strong avoidance to hanging out with people one on one, difficulty responding to messages and emails (to the point I've hired an email assistant to keep my life from crashing). Lots of people think I don't like them because I appear to be ignoring them. I wish there were

If I like you usually I'll have low level interaction online, like respond to one of your messages once a month or something. I typically don't respond at all to people I actually don't like, and sometimes mute or block.

It is a weird brain problem; the negative response I get to it indicates that they aren't used to experiencing someone who doesn't respond so much; typically when this happens it means someone doesn't like them. If lots of people were like me there'd be less confusion.

I empathize. I'm the kind of person that will show up to help you move and be perfectly happy to hang out afterward, but find an excuse to skip your birthday party. I think it's because the former has a known objective, while the latter seems directionless.
