Years ago, I watched zeitgeist. They presented a very compelling argument for 9/11 being an inside job - why did the safeguards fail? What about building 7? Etc. I was like, damn. This is extremely convincing. But the second section was about the bible, and the bible is probably-

Wait, I'm still stuck on the 'i found a 9/11 conspiracy theory compelling'...ive always found them ludicrous on their face, let alone when you dig into the details...how does such an otherwise intelligent person like you find them compelling at all???

"On the lookout" is probably not the right phrase, it kinda suggests filtering through your own preconcieved lens. "If you don't know how to think critically about the information you're presented" is probably the right phrase.

I mean, this thread is a pretty good example of what she's talking about. You're following her because you like something about her, whatever it is, but now she's said something you find very striking and now you have to recontextualize the whole thing. Kinda proving her point.

Her comment to me was (paraphrasing) 'to the unsuspecting person cherry picked data can be convincing' and you're saying I'm 'proving her point' by...recontextualizing the "whole thing"??? What? What are you talking about?

Her saying that is enough for you to question what you're willing to accept from her. The thread was originally about how she was unwilling to accept an idea after hearing that person's other bad idea. I'm just pointing out the similarity, not agreeing with her response to you.
