I suspect most systemic oppression is a myth. But it's very commonly used as an important concept in America, and I wanna make sure I'm not missing anything - can someone steelman systemic oppression for me - what it means exactly, and if that definition is supported by data?

It’s a very complex thing. Is it impossible to run in shallow water which has sharp rocks beneath? No. But given the same expended effort you likely won’t move as efficiently as some one on land. COULD YOU? Sure. But you can’t expect the general results to reflect the outliers

Right; some people have it easier than others. I think I question the predictability of standard privilege narratives; they sometimes remind me of sexism (you're x because you're a girl) and like, in general that statistic is right but shoving it on individuals is worse
