It feels like people don't choose their thoughts, but do choose their actions. Does that seem accurate to you? If it does, then why can't pedophiles let their thoughts/desires stay in their heads and not bring them out into the world?

I don't think that's true anymore. There's a big community online of anonymous people talking about their inclinations who have never offended. I just don't understand why they can't deny themselves their desire in favor of other more accepted practices.

We don't really know if the act is nonharmful at this point. The same argument that it normalizes the behavior or makes it attractive could be made. I guess my fear is that an accepting community would reinforce those within it to keep it as a huge part of their personality.
