The total lack of any sympathy for the difficulties of the very wealthy often reveals an underlying belief that all *your* difficulties in life are a result of simply not having enough money.
Imagine you gain billions of dollars. Fast forward a year or two - what are your biggest difficulties? Are you any happier? Do you still experience anxiety? All your problems now are definitely rooted in you, not your want for material things.
Yes, happier. Much less anxious over personal situation. Anxiety would be primarily about effectively using my new wealth/power to make world a better place and save it from the various problems that beset it, and balancing this duty that comes w/wealt& power against desire 4 fun
I don't know that people want a world in which they have more money than you could spend in many lifetimes. I do know that 44% of full-time working Americans make 18K or less and there isn't a state in which someone making 15K (min wage) can afford to rent market-rate 1-bdrm apt
Lame hot take. Yes you have ‘anxiety’ but you have warm food and a roof over your head and more resources than 99.99% of humans ever with which to fix yourself.
I can but my Alzheimer afflicted mother in a top of the line nursing home. I can replace my broken furnace. I can get my car fixed. I can put my child in a fabulous preschool, etc, etc. Money doesn’t solve all the problems, but it certainly opens up the solutions set.
