If you think that people who vote for the political figure you disagree with must necessarily be psychopaths, complete buffoons, idiots, brainwashed, whiny, or angrily selfish, then you should seriously reconsider like, all of your beliefs in everything

you are utterly failing to understand that someone's brain and experience can be constructed in such a way that the opposing policies actually seem like a good, loving, helpful thing for humanity that satisfies thier deepest values. Your politics has destroyed your compassion.

Whenever I meet someone who categorizes those they disagree with as motivated by darkness, I immediately become afraid of them, because I know their love has concrete limits, and if I want to connect with them I have to perform within their approved limits or be rejected.

This is incredibly unsophisticated thinking: political beliefs *do* have a moral element and basically always have. Every civil rights battle was a battle over morality - universal suffrage, slavery, ending Jim Crow. All politics, all moral, all with a clear 'right side'.

Agree, society literally could not function if we just decide that everything is morally ambiguous and all sides have a point. I agree with OPs point about not dehumanizing individuals, but we can (and must) condemn certain beliefs.

But, like, you’re still suggesting war and slavery are bad, and even the religious. Not trying to troll, I mostly agree with your point, but I think we all make value judgements about certain beliefs.

This is a shit take and you put the best argument against it in the tweet itself. Slavery. People who hated slavery are right, people who hated slavers were right, and without those people slavery as a legal institution would still exist.

That’s the lesson though isn’t it. That the Nazis and us have the same heart. It’s only by seeing that we would do the same in their condition that we can emphasize with how backed into a corner they are.

You do realize that you're doing the exact thing that you're saying is bad by saying it's bad, right? Morality is just opinions, and opinions do not become facts when enough people believe them. Until you understand this, you suffer the same delusion as the people you speak of.
