holy shit I just learned about the World Sauna Championships, which were ended in 2010 after one of the contestants was disqualified because he couldn't leave the sauna without aid. Also he died.

Can anybody explain how people can survive at all in temperatures that are literally above the boiling point of water? The guy who died had third degree burns - was this the norm in the competition? Did the contestants breathe?

The Russian died (likely due to the doping with painkillers), the Finnish guy was disqualified.
