I think the thing other people are parsing as 'gender' isn't 'gender' to me. I talked with a nonbinary friend recently who described their nonbinaryness as sort of... not wanting to be misunderstood as having female traits. This is valid! This also is completely different from-

Gender is nuanced and complex—too much for tweets IMO. It’s also as unique as each individual. When I say “not the job,” it doesn’t mean “never the place.” Rather, it is just highlighting that people don’t always have the emotional bandwidth to justify/explain their existence.

That's a semiotic claim. there are two meanings to gender and the one Aella is using happen to be the one used by transphobes etc, but that doesn't make that meaning invalid. To protect the heterogeneity of gender, you seem to be suppressing the heterogeneity of meanings of words
