Not entirely, if the answer to the question is simply “most” rather than agreeing with the idea of *all* identity being trauma. Identity is quite necessary for most people to feel extant psychologically. But obsessing over it may have to do with trauma. Or social pressure.

Trauma is a blurry word, but I buy it in a particular sense: identities as strategies for interfacing with the social world to get the things you need (or desire), themselves determined by a sense of persistent (traumatic) "lacking".

I'd say a less of a strategy and more of a rent-seeking impulse, but yeah.
