Lack of consent seems to be the main reason people are citing for why bestiality is wrong, and is also one that seems least consistent with other types of animal abuse (that they seem to care less about). Avoiding bestiality due to diseases seems like a fine reason to me.

Right. We do a huge array of things to animals that are really terrible and that they don't consent to, all the time, but people are way less angry about that then about bestiality (which can be done without harming the animal). I don't think they actually care about animal harm.

Not that *you* don't care, just I suspect people who are inconsistent like this have the true crux for their anti-bestiality reaction lie in socialized reactions due to.... disease probably? as opposed to 'consent' or whatever.

I originally saw this from Cassandra; she's a huge animal rights activist across the board; one of the reasons I kept following her after she switched from Bernie to Trump. And I don't eat meat but eating meat is not inconsistent w/wanting ethical treatment of animals
