No, but there was a time when I worked closely with a remote-work programmer and I realized to my surprise that despite a certain intimacy in our relationship I had no idea what gender they were, because of their ambiguous name.

Decades ago.
Pen-pal girlfriend arranged by my cousin.
E-mail, telephone, girlfriend met through work.
Neither panned out to be long term after meeting.
Other senses beyond intellect get a vote on relationships.

I thought this would be much more common, but I think it's just because when I moved as a kid it took me a while to make any friends in real life. I wonder if that's a common reason why you'd have mostly online friends.
