Have you ever truly stopped loving someone?

Question for people saying no: Do you still love your exes after (some large number) years, or does this question not apply to you for whatever reason?

there's a pervasive notion love MUST be performative or it isn't love at all; sometimes that performance can be moving on and not falling into the same traps with the other person again and again ad nauseum. There's a gargantuan difference between love and relationship building.

Hm. I guess that one is a matter of perspective. Lost all feelings for them? Probably not, something always remains. But is that really still love? I don't know.

Is this question able to be answered in the context of close and long term friends as well as romantic bonds or is it meant only for the latter?

It's not hard to do. You just have to stay away from them long enough to forget who they are or for them to change enough to be different from who you remember.

My first girlfriend was crazy, even towards the end of our relationship I wanted to stop. When I stopped feeling for her, it was a godsend and I stopped really loving her, she wasn't really a great person and it was nice to be clear headed and old enough to stop.

I hate that I don't have answers to many/most of your questions.. Even those relating directly to "my experience" of life..
