I got $0.00 and was raised to never expect any more than that. It amazed me when some of my friends received huge down payments for their starter homes from their parents!

It's a little hard to say, inflation adjusted its probably 2x what the dollar amount was back then. And that doesn't really count non cash things

Does it count if they died when I was young, leaving me orphaned, and as their sole heir I inherited their modest estate along with their not so modest debts?
