This question and my reaction to it weirds me out. Like I have this innate sense (probably based on what Western culture has imprinted in me) that if compassion were a person, a Platonic ideal in the flesh, she would be a woman

But I’m also fairly certain women aren’t more compassionate than men, at least not by much and across every area of life

Probably based on my experience as a heterosexual man with two sisters and no brothers. The people who've always looked out for me and cared about my well being have been women. I don't necessarily think my bias says anything about reality though.
