"I do makeup for me, as expression, not for anyone else" is the biggest load of crock I've ever heard. Isn't it a little weird that everyone who does makeup 'for themselves' always aims for the same goal - making eyes look bigger, skin more youthful, lips fuller?

what I don’t get: paint face *every* day with pore-blocking & waterproof makeup... caustic removers to strip face of the paint & kill the natural biome on there... intense & expensive skin care regimens to help undo the process... ...wonder why you have acne & sensitive skin?

I follow some really cool makeup artists on Instagram who have incredible lewks but they seem to have the most intense skin issues of all all these “cleanses” and “fasts” and no one ever does a “makeup cleanse” or a “makeup fast” for a month ???

truly, as a man, I just do not understand makeup I understood more about hair when I grew mine out but I don’t think I’ll ever have a daily makeup routine & probably will likely never understand it but it absolutely fascinating & weird

Some makeup can cause acne, but acne is not quite that simple. Lots of makeups are light/non pore clogging. I personally still get acne at the same rate whether I wear makeup or go for weeks without.

I get acne & never wear makeup so I do understand it mostly isn’t the makeup routine
but no one ever seems to stop their makeup routine to give their skin a chance; the worse it gets often the more makeup & removers & creams they use1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

I dated a woman for a long time who uses only 1 makeup product & she rarely ever uses it, (a natural cheek-&-lip tint by Benefit) she doesn’t even use mascara!! a true outlier she has great skin, no routine, rare acne, & that started my idea maybe makeup routines can be harmful

I'm pretty deep into the makeup/skincare world and a lot of people talk about acne-causing makeup and avoiding it and whatnot. I don't know how many people give their skin a total break from makeup, but I also don't know how much that's necessary (breaks don't help me at all)

acne is so personal, good luck on your journey

re: the original tweet, I don’t know why she would put on that tint
it was usually if we were going out somewhere nicer or if she was going out & she would be seeing a group of her friends0 replies 0 retweets 0 likesThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
