"I do makeup for me, as expression, not for anyone else" is the biggest load of crock I've ever heard. Isn't it a little weird that everyone who does makeup 'for themselves' always aims for the same goal - making eyes look bigger, skin more youthful, lips fuller?

It signals lack of self awareness, and it's pretty low-hanging fruit for self awareness. I do make exceptions for people who do *serious art* on their own faces, and also people who would be doing makeup if they spent their whole life in the wilderness away from civilization
