Maybe one incentive behind the theory that "rape is about power" is that "rape is due to sexual frustration" would end up validating the importance of men's need for sex, while "it's about power" is much easier to condemn, and is more 'moralistic' as opposed to 'cause-effect".

Not that rape *isn't* about power - I'm sure most have this as an important element, and some have it as the sole element - it's just that in most discussions I see this talked about as the only possible reason.

Its worth noting rates of rape are higher in countrys with no access to porn or prostitution.
Its an interesting theory.

While it may be causal, correlation does not equal causation. Both of those things may be independently associated with poverty, for example

Is no one gonna talk about the fact that she’s basically saying rape is only committed by men?

If you'd asked me if I believe rape is only committed by men, if have said no

Rape is mainly about uncontrolled/unrestrained sexual desire, whether people want to admit it or not. If it were only about power, you'd see a lot more people being grabbed & forced to clean homes, cook, sew, etc. Also, many rapists are psychotics & sociopaths with no conscience.

Great point.
Rape is negatively correlated with porn and legal prostitution.
Suggests it’s mostly about sexual frustration.

I've often thought that if you want to stop school shooters, make prostitution legal. No incels, no mass shooters

I used to give some credit to this hypothesis ^ but what about many, many, many men who experience sexual frustration and do not rape?
Notwithstanding needs for intimacy, acceptance and sex and continued societal inability to talk sensibly about them specifically for men.
