Inspired by 's thought-provoking Qs, with pun intended I pose the Q, did thought precede language? If so, meaning words are just one medium of thinking, what were the alternatives 50-150K years ago? Was one of them what we now equate to daydreaming?

i strongly suspect thought/language were extremely tightly interwound, like, basically the same? Like the first 'thought' arose the first time a 'word' did - in conjunction with other, for purpose of communicating, in the way some animals have 'words' now

A quick search on the interwebs yields that they do. But if what makes us different from other species is, among other things, the ability to imagine what the future will be like (thanks ), then words weren’t necessarily necessary in order to do so.
