Respect Muslims. Love Muslims. Invite them to be your neighbors, your friends. Be a champion for their rights, oppose anti-Muslim hate. You don't have to believe the same things Muslims believe to do this. That would be ridiculous. I feel similarly about trans people.

It doesn't matter if you share their models on gender or not, or their models on themselves - you don't have to agree with each other in order to treat them as they want to be treated, or to fight hate together, or to show respect and love.

I personally believe that the vast majority of trans people experience legitimate gender dysphoria, and I support treatment by transition. I don't know if I agree with the further philosophical implications of gender, which feels grey and fuzzy! But I still support them.

I support them too. People are free to present themselves as they wish. But the hot button issue seems to be whether to let biologically male trans women compete against biological females. This is where I begin to have concerns.

This seems like the start of a much more confusing debate, the further we get into the tech to self-modify. I don't know what the answer is but I suspect the hard and fast traditional rules aren't gonna cut it in the future.

It's easy to find things that support your own position, so forgive me if I'm not that excited about reading your choices. I would be interested in reading a debate or discussion between two opposing people done in good faith.

I believe all internal experiences are valid. I also write a lot about how cultural narratives shape the way we interpret those experiences. I trust trans experiences; I have ongoing curiosity about the ways society shapes the interpretation.

Good faith is necessary for productive conversation.
