It is in no way incumbent upon a group of people to react with kindness and understanding when you say hurtful and ignorant things about them. The trans community doesn't owe you anything. I'd recommending not whining when people get mad at you for insulting them.
turns out the answer is probably around 0.5%, which is extremely low, and serves as a good refutation to all the people who think trans people are just 'failed men' or something. If I hadn't asked the question, I wouldn't have gotten that answer.

You literally could've just google this and then present your conclusion alongside your question. Shallow reporting hurts. I mean you are trying to be like a reporter, right? Leg work is important, ok?

There are so many harmful actions in your process. Yet your take away, is that we should engage with harmful questions politely to change your mind. And the only way you would have learned is to ask your audience on twitter. To me this is not a kind way to show support.

This idea about “harmful” questions is extremely toxic. Instead of coddling fragile egos, we should be working on making those egos stronger and more resilient to some degree of abrasive rhetoric. Ignoring the value of intent to focus on superficial “ harm” helps no one.
