I absolutely think a lot (most? nearly all?) trans people are trans because of default brain wiring or something, but I wonder what percentage are MtF cause they felt like they could never be a successful man, and because there's a clear community/path to acceptance for trans ppl

what on earth possessed u, not only to be so fucking moronic in the first instance, but ALSO to believe ur hateful, ignorant, deliberately & obtusely misleading hot take (which NO ONE asked for)—about a category of human beings who are not only theoreticals—HAD to be posted

That which can be destroyed by the truth should be, and if it isn't destroyed, then it's only made stronger. So are you afraid of being destroyed by the truth, or do you want the truth made stronger?

This is a malicious trope that is already too widely believed. Asking leading questions that imply that it might be a statically considerable occurrence really doesn’t further discourse toward a higher truth.

I didn't mean to imply anything. As I've said elsewhere based on a study someone provided, I'd guess the number is around 0.5%. Isn't that number *good* for yall?

“I don’t mean to imply anything, but I have to wonder if (x class of people) is more likely to (random horrible thing)” is the first example of similarly socially irresponsible musing I can come up with to help make the point that the original tweet is irresponsible.

I'm absolutely fine with that kind of question, because then people can provide a good solid answer and disprove the harmful stereotype.

I would strongly caution you to remember that, outside of rationalist communities, a lot of people care more about rhetoric than truth, and that misinformation campaigns are common. Asking the question does a lot of damage, and disproving it does very little.

If it would help, consider accusations of sexual assault. The damage to the accused's reputation is incurred at the time of accusation, regardless of truth value. The verdict of public opinion is handed down much more swiftly than that of the courts.
