I think I'm disappointed that the trans community is as vicious and cruel as the pro-life was. Like... I expected better. I am very pro-trans, whereas I'm not pro-life at all, so I sort of just... anticipated more kindness?

I've been extremely clear in a huge amount of this discussion that I'm pro trans, that the vast majority of trans people aren't pretending, that trans lives are very hard, but people are just ignoring what I'm saying and acting like I hate trans people, wtf.

Like if what I'm saying is hurtful, okay let's discuss that. But people are saying I'm coming from a perspective that I'm not coming from, I'm not going to apologize for believing something I don't believe.

I'm willing to accept that this was hurtful. I'm also interested in being able to communicate, even if this requires rearranging my language. I would also like that people engage with my actual beliefs, not a false boogyman about them.

I explained my actual beliefs inside the thread over and over again. I also don't believe that censoring myself in order to avoid causing pain to others is automatically correct. I'd like to work to reduce pain I cause to others without sacrificing my own expression.
I also want to say I feel very grateful to you for engaging kindly, even if it's hard for you and even despite the hurt you feel. I feel a lot of respect for you in that.

I guess what people are reacting to is that suggesting some trans people are transitioning out of fascination rather than necessity & are not 'actually' trans is hurtful coz it's a slippery slope & many transpeople have had their identity disbelieved on just such grounds.
