I've been in dance communities, so the places I'm thinking of comes from there - dance community in San Francisco and Boston are extremely, extremely pro-trans.

No, invalidate the fact there are social incentives. It's possible they were deluded about how easy it would be, but that doesn't negate the fact they cite social incentives.
