I absolutely think a lot (most? nearly all?) trans people are trans because of default brain wiring or something, but I wonder what percentage are MtF cause they felt like they could never be a successful man, and because there's a clear community/path to acceptance for trans ppl

the last thing we need to be doing is deciding who is and isn't "actually trans." People can do what they want with their bodies, their names, their pronouns, their wardrobes, whatever.

i wonder how folks would receive these people if they were anywhere near as excited about discussing the rates of regret around, say, hip replacements or chemotherapy (multiple times higher than regret rates around transitioning) as they were the rates of detransition

How in the world would outting yourself as trans make you less lonely?! Just stop talking about things you clearly don't understand.

The “class” doesn’t need protection from people exploring or confused about their gender. It needs protection from people who seem unduly fascinated and need concrete answers to unhelpful questions.

Most trans communities that I’m aware of prioritize intersectionality over gatekeeping due in part to being composed largely of people who have struggled with resolving their gender identity. The idea of “actual trans” v not doesn’t protect people.
