Again: I think a very significant number of trans people are trans because of something-something 'brain wiring'.
This thread is *not* that majority, but it's interesting - it's people discussing social incentives for becoming trans:

It doesn’t work this way, but isn’t it interesting to think about it working this way? No

In Finland recently there were a couple of articles about detransitioners in the news essentially saying "I wish they had ruled out other causes for body dysphoria first"

Thoughtful post! These outrage mobs are clearly part of the current trans scene, and undoubtedly affect transition / detransition rates themselves. Imagine posting your detrans story and being called a TERF!

There aren’t incentives to “become trans” it’s not a choice people make, and if it were, there are so many dangers to being trans that people wouldn’t just choose it to be more successful. This is a really really ignorant take.

The brain wiring story is about differences in brain architecture in the direction opposite of physical sex. If you go the other direction, for superficial reasons, you're going to create the wiring problem in the other direction. No one wants this.

For those of you who remember the 2000's, this is one of the exact same narratives used to claim that gay teens were just being trendy.
