I absolutely think a lot (most? nearly all?) trans people are trans because of default brain wiring or something, but I wonder what percentage are MtF cause they felt like they could never be a successful man, and because there's a clear community/path to acceptance for trans ppl

Hard to dispute those self-reports, yeah. Agree that it's partially the framing. If you ask "what percent of detransitioners initially transitioned due to this?", the story given detrans feels much more plausible than "what percentage of trans people transitioned due to this?"

Also, think there's a meaningful distinction between "tried to fill opposite-gender narrative" and "tried to fill trans narrative". Your 2nd link is the latter, but 1st link, its reply and https://www.reddit.com/r/detrans/comments/e9x83u/was_there_any_signs_before_transitioning_that/fanpriv/ … (same poster), and https://www.reddit.com/r/detrans/comments/e9x83u/was_there_any_signs_before_transitioning_that/fao5uid/ … are all the former.

Also, detrans is a notoriously transphobic reddit. They say some wild garbage about trans people there.

lmao one of your examples is from someone who's ftm and the other one is like... two sentences long. these obscure reddit links you dug up where trans people are doing personal processing together in forums don't even support your original terrible take.
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
